Packaging, the Consumer and Industry

Packaging continues to be known as “the silent salesperson.” However,
in the course of the last few decades, it has gained relevant importance
with respect to purchasing decisions, becoming an active sales
element, generating a greater volume of feelings to draw the attention
of the global consumer.

As has been the case with packaging, the consumer has transformed
himself as well, incorporating elements in each of his decisions that
had not been fully developed until now, with a more critical,
analytic and comparative sense with respect to the products,
the brands, the quality and the clarity of information, the way they
are to be used, their safety, and the way in which the package
is to be disposed of in the flow of solid wastes.

These elements, namely, packaging and consumer, have led the
industry to adapt its strategies for the development of products and
services. This has led to the adoption of the analysis of consumer
behavior as the main platform. And not only the locally, but also globally,
since their products are reaching other markets or, simply because
the local shelves are exhibiting the products of their competition from

neighboring countries or from countries in other continents.

active packagings which require new technology for printing, converting
and processing, all these will be a challenge for the packaging user industry - always ahead of the manufacturing industry- which, in search of amplifying
its markets, will have to develop new products in which
packaging will be a major player.

The packaging user industry will have to comply with norms and standards, brand protection, client preferences, process automation, traceability,
product safety and security, all that in order to convince a consumer who is every year more critical and knowledgeable and looking for his/her welfare, with total engagement to the world's environment.
